Meet Jess!
Hi, I’m Jessica Boyd. I’m the founder of Buttertart Books and the writer of “Bear Hockey,” “Duck Fort” and “The Animal Hotel.” I’ve been crazy about kid lit since I was a kid myself! I have a gigantic collection of picture books that I love, and a smaller but equally awesome collection of terrible picture books (and by “awesome,” I mean “terrifying”).
In my past life, I worked as a creative lead and a senior writer for a very popular children’s website. I was also an advice hippo. It was a pretty sweet gig and I’d probably still be there, except for the arrival of my little ladies.
Currently, I spend my days chasing around my daughters, ages 4 and 2 months. They’re my biggest inspirations and my biggest distractions. My husband and I live with our girls just outside of Toronto, and we are all very excited about the startup of Buttertart Books!
Meet Maurizio!
Hello, I’m Maurizio Curto. I am the Illustrator of “Bear Hockey.” I’ve always felt that entertaining children is my passion. It has given me the opportunity to open and educate young minds, while presenting a wonderful world of imagination, happiness and excitement to kids. Plus it helps that I am a real kid at heart!
I have 10+ years of experience in the children’s interactive industry, producing artwork through my illustrations and designs. I have also have been involved in puppetry, where I have operated puppets and created custom voices for elves, wizards, ghosts, and yes, even a talking tree.
I enjoy nature, healthy eating, comic books, all types of movies, and the occasional video game, which I enjoy playing with my friends. My lovely wife and two cats are always there to brighten my day and support me when I need it most.
I’m very excited to be a part of the Buttertart Books team. We are really looking forward to releasing “Bear Hockey” because we know you’re going to love it!
